About
Locke Landis was born and raised in Vancouver Washington. He began tap dancing at the age of four, which started his pursuit of the arts. Locke’s dance training diversified when he enrolled at the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics in 2012. There he studied ballet and modern dance, while also discovering a love for music. After graduating high school, Locke continued his dance training in 2019 at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle Washington, where he further expanded his skillsets as an interdisciplinary performing artist. Locke graduated from Cornish in 2023 with a BFA in dance, to go on to work as a lighting designer. Locke’s musical endeavors led him to form the group Kellen’s Band while persisting in his collaborations with the pop-punk group MID. Currently, Locke works as a performing and technical artist in Seattle Washington while continuing his studies in tap dance at VAM studios.
Craft for yourself and you will never be unsatisfied. Understand that every little thing you do is a stepping stone to your next masterpiece. This statement isn't something I have always understood. I started tap dancing around the age of 4, and it wasn’t until I started 6th grade at the local arts magnet school that I stopped thinking of dance and arts as a pastime. The community at the school endorsed the arts and cultivated an environment in which you could freely express yourself. I was no longer bullied by my peers for the passions I pursued. Dance took over my life in high school, and I committed to it fully when I chose to attend Cornish College of the Arts. I’ve since reflected on the steps I took to get here. All the failures, and achievements. Every struggle, and every success. As hard as this path has been, I now realize that every little thing I do aids me in creating the work that I am proud of. My deepest hope is that my arts can be proof of my journey and that it inspires others to take a risk.
